It was the Federation of British
Historic Vehicle Clubs Drive It day at the weekend. A good cause and there were a lot of people out and about in all sorts of exotic vehicles on a great number of events. A great way to kick off the season.
We took part in the MK Classic Car Tour which is part of the Historic Rally Car Register's scenic tour series and it was a very enjoyable days driving. Around 150 cars took part including everything from a Ford Sierra to a Ferrari 550.
We had stops at Millborook Proving ground, the Porsche test track and Porsche skid pan at Silverstone which was kept us all entertained.
It looks like Goodwood have another success on it’s hands. Last weekend was our first visit to a Goodwood Breakfast Club meeting, I was amazed at the turn-out; cars of every possible type were buzzing around. We even spotted a few 1960s Ferrari 250 in on the way home. It was well worth the trip, and it costs nothing apart from getting up early.
Each monthly meeting has a theme and this time around it was ‘Fabulous Family Favourites, from Fords to Flaminias’ so the coupe was right at home. Breakfast was in the pits (with produce from the estate), the airfield was running, and we even got the slowest possible lap of the circuit done on the back of a tractor.
It was a fine sunny day so we made a few visits to different bits of the estate; The Goodwood Farm Shop, Goodwood hotel for lunch and a visit to the sculpture park for some culture. We even had a visit to the reproduction Earls Court for a few photos…It’s the details like that that keep you coming back.
OK so maybe the're not exactly daily drivers but we chanced upon this multi-million pound pub car park on the way back from Goodwood this weekend. It was quite a sight... Matt black 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso anyone?
